What is the 2024
Summer Showcase Showdown?
We were tired of the same camp experience, players putting in weak effort and coaches socializing instead of recruiting. We decided to make a change. Our camp creates an environment that rewards the players for excellent effort and rewards the coaches for recruiting the event- this is what we came up with.
THE 2024 SHOWCASE SHOWDOWN
A unique individual camp experience allowing players to prove THEMSELVES. Most showcase events have a small 4 hour camp ahead of them and games with their respective travel ball teams. But really how much "exposure" is any one player getting? What about the fantastic players that don't play for the most premier teams? They get left out because their jersey isn't PREMIER.
Not at our camp, travel jerseys aren't allowed during the camp portion of the event. EFFORT is rewarded, ATTITUDE is rewarded, not the travel team you play on. The only thing that gets you to the next round is Y.O.U. Our camp has 12 college coaches recruiting the event. 8 taking part in the camp, draft and game portion and 4 organizing and running the camp portion only.
Round 1: Day 1- Pitchers & Catchers report first for a 1.5 hour session of warmup, pitching, catching, and throw downs. We have 32 pitchers attending our event each vying for their spot in the 2024 SHOWDOWN. Pitchers and catchers will be split into two fields- one focusing on pitching with pitches called by college coaches and the other field focused on metrics provided by NSR.
After the pitcher/catcher portion all players report to defense/offense portion of the camp. The players will be divided onto 4 fields. Each fields drills will be organized by a college coach (Snead St./ Calhoun/ Southern Union/ Florida Memorial). The 8 recruiting college coaches (UAH/UNA/Northwest Shoals/ Jacksonville St./ Gadsden St/ UWA/ Bethel/ Alabama A&M) will be rotating between the fields focusing on who they want to be on their teams for the tournament games.
Round 2: After the camp is over, players will be able to participate in the HIT GROUND ZERO homerun derby and get their metrics measured by NSR. The college coaches head to the DRAFT ROOM to take part in a 52 player draft. Our recruiting coaches will be paired up in teams of two. Those two coaches will participate in a draft against the other 3 teams. Each team gets 13 players on their roster, free to build the team in anyway they would like. 52 total players drafted, 48 players not drafted. This will be a live draft event, with the players getting to see their name and highlights broadcast live as they get picked to play in the event tournament.
Round 3: College coaches and their teams return for a 2.5 hour practice. Each player showcasing their talents for their respective college coaches and each coach building a relationship with their recruited player. The coaches are free to run this practice in anyway they want.
Round 4: Day 2- A double elimination camp tournament starts at 8am. Teams will play to see who is the best team. Coaches are free to choose who plays and how much. This is a college level atmosphere rewarding the best players with playing time for their teams.
